BMCC On Air: This Week

Here’s what is going on this week:

Shoot for African Heritage Month/Eric Tait Jr.: Wednesday Feb. 20, meet in S506 10:30am sharp for equipment pick-up. Shane, Michael and Crystal – we will take gear down to Richard Harris Room. Mr. Tait and the college has confirmed permission to shoot – we will interview Mr. Tait first (around 10:45)

Meeting: Wednesday Feb 20 S506, 2-3:30pm

Studio Rehearsal Friday, Feb 22 10am to 2pm. S510. This will be our introduction to the studio, operations and set-up.

Here are the stories we are working on so far-interns will firmly commit to a shoot/editing schedule for the projects this week:

1. School athletics and school spirit: Producer: Shane Beckford. We have already shot “person on the street” interviews, an interview with director Steven Kelly and have taken some B-roll. Need to acquire game footage from media center & perhaps shoot more games and audience reaction.
2. A Day in the Life of a BMCC student: Producer: Kaneshia Shuler. A look at one long day of student with numerous challenges – perhaps a student/parent, a full time employee and/or a student with physical challenges. Need to talk to students that are to be profiled and set up shoots.
3. Being a person of color and/or a woman in the media business: Producer: Jennifer Beltre. This is a continuation of a story that was shot last semester at the CUNY Media Conference. Need to review footage to see if any additional shoots are needed. Most footage is loaded except for the seminar by Jocyln Taylor.
4. The BMCC Music Club/Hip Hop Clubs, Producer Michael Everett. Needs more research into clubs, what they do and where and when to shoot.
5. Prof. Ruff’s Success Workshop: Producer, Kenny Second. Continuation of a story shot last semester. A look at the workshop & hints for student as they enter the business world. Need to load tape #1- all others are loaded - and begin to edit.
6. Changing Majors at BMCC: Producer: Crystal Morgan. Need to formulate approach to this story and begin shooting.

Mountauban Witley needs to formulate an idea for the show. We will also be shooting a story about Northern Slavery as part of African Heritage Month – we will need a producer to pick up this project.
