"On Air" April 7
Check out the "On Air" story on the BMCC website! It is Ricardo Delgado's story about "Behind the Scenes of VAT Productions".
Here's the schedule this week:
Meeting/Editing time Weds. 4/9 2pm S506
Studio Shoot (Interviews) 4/11 9:30am - 3:00am (we could end earlier this time)
Talent call: 12:00.
Troy will be shooting the play "Machinal" this Wednesday night - we could use some help with the crews - maybe we could shoot with 2 cameras if we get enough help. Please call me (973) 202-1651 if you can make it. The play starts at 7pm but we should set up much earlier- around 5:30. We will try to take a feed from the soundboard so we can capture quality audio.
I will be in early on Wednesday if anyone needs help or advice with their work.
Best,
Prof. Ellis

Show me the money
In the semester of Spring 2007, I did a story entitled "Show Me the Money," focusing on finding scholarships for school. Currently, I am campaigning for a $1000 scholarship so I could continue my education at City College. I would appreciate if you could watch my one minute submission on why I deserve it and if you have time you could sign on as a guest to vote and leave feedback.
Thank you all for your support.

"On Air" 2-25-08
We had a good week on “BOA” – our introduction to the studio very went well and we’ll be ready for our first studio rehearsal. Thank you to all who braved the storm! The shoot with Eric Tait also went very well – thanks to the good work by Michael, Crystal and Shane.
On Tuesday Crystal will be shooting her story about transferring to a 4-year school. She will be meeting ay S506 at 12:30pm- I cannot attend this shoot – you will now be shooting mostly on your own. . We could use help! If anyone is available please contact Crystal at 917-570-2391.
Feb 27 -Wednesday meeting at 2pm -3:30pm S506. A few interns are needed at 1:30- we hope to be shooting the Music Club practicing and recording in the audio studio. Let me know if you can make it early.
Feb 29 Friday Studio Rehearsal 10am-2pm S510
If there is any other shoots in the works please let me know!
There have been some changes in our stories- here is what we are working on:
1. School athletics and school spirit: Producer: Shane Beckford. We have already shot “person on the street” interviews, an interview with director Steven Kelly and have taken some B-roll. Need to acquire game footage from media center & perhaps shoot more games and audience reaction.
2. A Day in the Life of a BMCC student: Producer: Kaneshia Shuler. A look at one long day of student with numerous challenges – perhaps a student/parent, a full time employee and/or a student with physical challenges. Need to talk to students that are to be profiled and set up shoots.
3. Being a person of color and/or a woman in the media business: Producer: Jennifer Beltre. This is a continuation of a story that was shot last semester at the CUNY Media Conference. Need to review footage to see if any additional shoots are needed. Most footage is loaded except for the seminar by Jocyln Taylor.
4. The BMCC Music Club/Hip Hop Clubs, Producer Michael Everett. Shoot on Wednesday 1:30pm.
5. Prof. Ruff’s Success Workshop: Producer, Kenny Second. Continuation of a story shot last semester. A look at the workshop & hints for student as they enter the business world. Need to load tape #1- all others are loaded - and begin to edit.
6. Transferring to a 4 year school: Producer: Crystal Morgan What students nee to know about the process of transferring. Shoots will include a transfer fair and advice from counselors.
7. Students with physical challenges: Producer Debbee Davis. Details still need to be ironed out.

If a Picture is worth a 1000 words...
...this video is worth 4,470,000 words(30 fps times 149 seconds times 1000).
This video shows the things I did (and what others interns do) during the BMCC on Air internship. Definitely a very good experience for me and I highly recommend all the students (specially the VAT ones) to take advantage of this opportunity to expand their knowledge in areas such as: Directing, Producing, Writing, Editing, among other areas the students are interested. And since directing and editing were the most enjoyable, gratifying and challenging part of the internship for me, I wanted to highlight those in this video. I want to thank Prof. Ellis for all the suggestions to improve my work and for answering and explaning all the questions (lots of questions) I had during the internship. Also, I want to thank Rosie for letting me use some of her footage. Enjoy!

Experience at Bmcc On Air.
It was been a rewarding experience being part of "BMCC On Air since the beginning Fall 2006, it has grown to be the best training in and Television News at BMCC. I have learned so much i.e editing, producing, directing floor managing. Everything you have learned in your VAT classes you put to use in BMCC On Air. In the beginning I wasn't as confident in my skills but BMCC On Air has taught me to be more confident. I continue to volunteer at BMCC On Air to reinforce my skills. Also, being part of BMCC On Air has given me a better understanding of how the Television news works.

Life after BMCC on Air.
Hello my name is Trisha and I joined this internship in the Spring of 2007. My experience here has changed my life by allowing me to get a better idea of my strengths and weakness. Working in a team is essential and if you decide to continue your studies or work in this field (or any field); this structure will make the transition easier. The highlights for me from this internship was the opportunity to work on my own story, working as a host (really cool), and even being a substitute director. It strengthened me in some areas, and gave me courage in others.
Currently I am attending City College in the BFA film program, along with some formal BMCC on Air members. We had the advantage of entering the semester as a team and collectively we produced some great pieces. I hope to share my experiences with you as I grow as a film maker through this blog.

"On Air" begins Semester #4
Welcome to "On Air"! I hope that everyone who received invitations will participate - people from the past and the present. A good start will be to just introduce yourself and tell us what you're up to these days. This is an open canvas of communication - we can go in all kinds of direction with it.
It looks that this will be an exciting semester - we have been talking with the Tribeca Film Festival people about getting access to shoot stories and working cooperatively with the festival. Look out Robert Di Nero- we're talking to you! There's other great plans in the works that we will be talking about soon.
It's easy to blog. You will need to set up a Google account if you don't already have one (it's safe and simple).
For a new subject, just hit "New Post", type your post and then hit "Publish Post." If you wish to comment on something - hit "comment" on the bottom of that post, then type away and hit "publish comment". You can also easily attach pictures and videos using the icons above the post that you are typing.
